Fáilte go Doon

Welcome To Doon

Doon has been awarded the Interpret Ireland Award and the Taisce 50 Award.

Doon is a site of National importance and offers delight to the Archaeologist and intrigue to the layman. It is a Lake Promontory Fort with 30 habitation sites. Archaeology is the interpretation of our past from man-made objects and monuments left behind by our Ancestors. This is a designated Area of Scientific Interest and the area around Lough Carra has been the subject of much study by eminent Botanists. A separate Nature Trail Guide is available here which introduces you to an exceptionally novel wildlife preserve.

You are now entering an area of great beauty, enriched by history, natural woodland. wild animals. birds and unspoilt lakeshore features.
